Initial Disclosure Document

What is an Initial Disclosure Document?

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is the independent regulator of financial services. The FCA require us to provide you with a document called an Initial Disclosure Document, which provides information about who regulates us, the services we will provide, what we charge for our services, and what to do if you have a complaint.

Who regulates us?

The Carzone is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our FCA Reference Number is 833423. You can check this on the FCA website https://register.fca.org.uk/s/ or by contacting the FCA on 0300 500 8082.

Which services will we provide you with?

As an Insurance Intermediary (Broker) acting on behalf of customers and not a lender, we will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs for financial products.

We may advise you on finance products such as Hire Purchases, Personal Contract Purchases, Personal Lease and other agreement types.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a limited number of lenders and their finance products. We are not an independent financial advisor and we act as their agent for this introduction. We may advise you on the products, subject to your personal circumstances, though you are not obliged to take our advice or recommendations.

Will you have to pay us for our services?

No. We do not charge a fee for our services. We earn a commission from the provider for introducing you to them. You will receive a quotation which will tell you about any other fees relating to your financial product.

Whichever finance lender we introduce you to, we will typically receive commission from them. Our compensation typically comes in the form of a commission from the lender, which can be either a fixed fee or a fixed percentage based on the amount you borrow. These compensation arrangements are predetermined through negotiations with our lending partners and do not grant us the authority to negotiate or modify your annual percentage rate (APR) or any other components within the total cost of credit. It's important to note that the APR may vary depending on your creditworthiness or the loan amount. The commission we earn remains consistent regardless of the finance type you select (such as Hire Purchase, Personal Loan, or Personal Contract Purchase) or the duration of the finance agreement. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.

Consumer Credit Disclosure

The Carzone is also authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Ref Number 833423) for consumer credit purposes. We are a broker for finance and not a lender. Please be aware lenders may pay us a commission for introducing you to them. This commission can be based on the amount you borrow or the vehicle you purchase. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions. Any commission lenders pay will not affect the amount that you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender.
